    Einthoven ECG

    In 1903 Willem Einthoven invented the first ECG machine to monitor a persons heartbeat. The electrical signals that were picked up from the heart were run trough a wire in a magnetic field. This caused the wire to move and it's shadow was recored on photosensitive material. The animation is on display next to the actual device.
